Post Child Bearing through Menopause - Treatment for heavy bleeding and/or painful menstrual cycles

The lining of the uterus - the endometrium - is shed each month during a woman's menstrual period. Some women have long periods or experience heavy bleeding. Heavy bleeding is most common for women between the ages of 40 and 50 as they approach menopause.

Losing too much blood can lead to anemia (lack of iron in the blood). It can also lead to problems with your daily functions. Sometimes the bleeding is too heavy or goes on too long and treatment is needed. If bleeding does not respond to medication, your doctor may suggest endometrial ablation. This procedure treats the lining of the uterus to control or stop bleeding. It does not remove the uterus.

Our office can help you to control the bleeding and restore your life. We currently are performing NovaSure endometrial ablations in our office. This is a minimally invasive procedure. NovaSure is a quick, simple procedure requiring no incisions. You have a rapid recovery time and no hormones are required. Most of our patients see a significant reduction in their level of menstrual bleeding and many report that their bleeding has stopped completely.

Patient Success Story

Why I'm so sure about "Novasure"...at the active age of 51 I found myself suffering from month to month with the horror that I was beginning menopause. With my busy lifestyle...being a salon owner, stylist and educator for a national haircare line...I just wasn't ready to put my life on hold. After visiting with Dr. Eastman and discovering that there were new options for this problem I decided to try the endometrial ablation. After telling the doctor that I would be flying for the next three weekends with my busy schedule he assured me that this was the best option. Quick and easy...wow, was it ever! I went in for the procedure on a Monday afternoon and went home later in the day. Was slightly "worn out" but am certain that was the valium and the pain medication I was administered that day. Had little or quite honestly, no pain during and after the procedure and went back to work the next day and flew 2 days later. All my worries are behind me. I would HIGHLY recommend, and have already, this super simple procedure to anyone fighting with irregular and extremely heavy periods. I feel like just 2 weeks after and I am back to my exercise program, busy days in the salon and worry-free flights during show season! Thank you Dr. Eastman and all the wonderful nurses at the clinic! I have my life back!

Sincerely,
Karen Colling from Remsen, Iowa
